01Agreement
These Terms of Service form a binding agreement between you and RefundHaul, LLC ("RefundHaul," "we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account, accessing this website, or using the RefundHaul app, you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the service.
We may update these Terms occasionally. Material changes will be announced in the app and via email at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of the service after that point counts as acceptance.
02Eligibility & accounts
You must be at least 13 years old to use RefundHaul. If you're between 13 and 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission. If you're using RefundHaul on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.
You're responsible for keeping your account secure. That includes:
- Choosing a strong password.
- Not sharing your account with others.
- Notifying us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.
- Providing accurate information when you sign up.
You're responsible for all activity that happens under your account. If your account is compromised because of your own negligence (weak password, sharing credentials), we're not liable for the consequences.
03The service
RefundHaul is an app that helps you track return windows and deadlines for items you've purchased. Core functionality includes:
- Photographing or manually entering receipts and items.
- AI-assisted parsing of receipt content.
- Automatic calculation of return deadlines based on the retailer's stated policy.
- Email reminders before return windows expire.
- Personal records of your return outcomes (returned, kept, etc.).
We may add, change, or remove features over time. We try not to break things, but we reserve the right to evolve the product.
04Return policy information disclaimer
RefundHaul publishes summaries and explanations of return policies for various retailers (Walmart, Target, Best Buy, etc.). This information is provided as a helpful reference, not as legal advice or a guarantee.
You acknowledge:
- Retailers change their policies. Sometimes without notice. We update our content as quickly as we can, but there's always a lag.
- Individual stores may apply policies differently. A specific cashier, manager, or location may interpret a policy more strictly or more leniently than the corporate policy suggests.
- Special promotions, sales, or product types may carry different rules that aren't covered in our summaries.
- You should always verify the current policy directly with the retailer for time-sensitive or high-value returns. Our summaries don't replace the retailer's official policy page.
RefundHaul is not affiliated with any retailer covered on this site. We have no commercial relationship with any retailer and no ability to enforce, override, or appeal a retailer's return decision on your behalf.
05Acceptable use
When using RefundHaul, you agree NOT to:
- Reverse engineer the app, decompile our code, or attempt to extract source code beyond what's publicly accessible in the browser.
- Scrape, mass-download, or systematically extract content from the website beyond normal personal use.
- Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to interact with the service in ways that consume excessive resources or that we haven't explicitly authorized.
- Upload content that you don't have rights to, that infringes third-party rights, or that's illegal in your jurisdiction.
- Submit fraudulent receipts or items to manipulate the service or third parties.
- Use the service to harass, threaten, or harm others.
- Attempt to access accounts other than your own or bypass our security measures.
- Resell or commercially redistribute RefundHaul access, data, or output without our written permission.
- Use the service to violate any applicable law or regulation.
If you violate these rules, we may suspend or terminate your account without notice.
06Your content
You retain all ownership rights to the content you upload to RefundHaul (receipts, photos, item descriptions, notes, etc.). By using the service, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display your content solely for the purpose of operating RefundHaul for you.
This license:
- Doesn't give us rights to use your content for advertising, marketing, or training AI models.
- Doesn't transfer ownership to us, your content remains yours.
- Ends when you delete the content or your account.
07Our intellectual property
The RefundHaul name, logo, app design, code, content (including return policy guides), and other materials are owned by us or licensed to us. They're protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
You may:
- Use the service for personal, non-commercial purposes.
- Share links to our public pages (like return policy guides).
- Quote short excerpts of our content with attribution.
You may not:
- Copy substantial portions of our content for republication.
- Use our trademarks without permission.
- Create derivative works based on the service.
08Fees
RefundHaul is currently free to use. We may introduce paid plans in the future for advanced features. If we do:
- Existing free features will remain free for current users for a reasonable transition period.
- You'll be notified before any features you currently use become paid-only.
- Paid features will require explicit opt-in, we won't auto-charge you.
09Third-party services
RefundHaul uses third-party processors (Supabase, Anthropic, Resend, Netlify) to operate. Those services have their own terms and policies, listed in our Privacy Policy.
We're not responsible for the practices of retailers, websites, or services linked from RefundHaul. When you visit a retailer's website to make a return, you're subject to their terms, not ours.
10Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR ACCURACY.
We do not warrant that:
- The service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure.
- Reminder emails will always be delivered or arrive on time.
- Return policy information on our site is current at the moment you read it.
- Receipt parsing will be 100% accurate.
- Any defects in the service will be corrected immediately.
You use RefundHaul at your own risk and must independently verify any time-sensitive information that matters to you.
11Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL REFUNDHAUL, ITS OWNERS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST REFUNDS, LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, OR LOSS OF GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
Our total aggregate liability for any claims arising from or relating to the service will not exceed the greater of (a) $50 USD or (b) the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Some jurisdictions don't allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. In those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Specifically: RefundHaul is a reminder tool. We're not responsible if you miss a return deadline. We're not responsible if a retailer denies your return. We're not responsible if our reminder emails get caught in spam. The service is a helpful nudge, not a guarantee.
12Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless RefundHaul and its owners from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:
- Your use of the service.
- Your violation of these Terms.
- Your violation of any third-party rights or applicable law.
- Content you upload or submit through the service.
13Term & termination
These Terms remain in effect while you use RefundHaul. Either party may end the relationship at any time:
- You can stop using the service at any time and delete your account from the Profile menu.
- We can suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, abuse the service, or for legal reasons. We'll generally try to notify you and give you a chance to cure the issue, except in cases of serious violations.
- We may discontinue the service as a whole, in which case we'll give reasonable advance notice and allow you to export your data.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including IP rights, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution, will continue to apply after termination.
14Dispute resolution
Informal first
If you have a problem with RefundHaul, please email us at hello@refundhaul.com first. Most issues can be resolved within a few days. We require a good-faith attempt to resolve disputes informally before either party initiates formal proceedings.
If informal resolution fails
If we can't resolve a dispute within 60 days of your initial written notice, either party may pursue formal resolution.
For users in the United States, disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Lancaster County, Nebraska, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. You agree that any claim must be brought individually, class actions are not permitted.
For users outside the United States, you may have additional rights under your local consumer protection laws that override these provisions. Nothing in these Terms limits those rights where they're protected by mandatory law.
15Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nebraska, United States, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.
16General provisions
- Entire agreement. These Terms and our Privacy Policy together form the complete agreement between you and RefundHaul regarding the service.
- No assignment. You can't transfer your account to someone else without our written consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
- No waiver. If we don't immediately enforce a right under these Terms, we haven't waived it.
- Notices. We may notify you via email or in-app messages. You should notify us via email at hello@refundhaul.com.
- Force majeure. We're not liable for failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control (natural disasters, infrastructure outages, government actions, etc.).
